Role of a Performer Blog!

For my performer, I chose non other than the Justin Bieber. Justin has existed in the music space for what seems like my entire life, and is an artist that has truly grown with his listeners. No matter the age, gender, or geographical location everyone knows of him. He has an infamous reputation and has the talent to back it up. Justin is known for having amazing live vocals, which is a primary reason why he came to mind for this blog post. 



For a little background on Justin's Career, He was first discovered by Usher as a 14 year old boy. From there, he became an overnight sensation. His earliest songs are perhaps his most notable, Baby Or One Less Lonely Girl, to name a couple. It was not very long before he was selling out arenas, inlcuding Madison Square Garden. As he grew up, his music started to have more meaning and held a sentimental value. Justin had a transformation from a cheesy pop-artist, to a grown up musician who has earned respect in the music world. As previously stated, this transition was backed up behind real authentic talent, which is noticeable within any live performance of his.

When analysing the lyrics of Lonely along with the emotion being conveyed during the performance, you can definitely conclude that there is an emotional layer to this song. As explained by The Simpsonian, "Bieber gives us a glimpse of what life has been for him through the lyrics of his ballad, Lonely. The lyrics and title may not be much but they have a large meaning", meaning the simplicity of the lyrics add even more depth. There isn't much decoding going on within this song, you are given the meaning on a silver platter.

2 Much is another example of Justin being able to present relatively simple and deliberate lyrics, but in a very beautiful manner. There is no flashiness, it is raw genuine feeling that is being presented. This song touches on the feeling of love and working you aren't enough for the other person. As elaborated by Lyrical Interpretations, "2 Much" an absolute masterpiece is about loving someone while being unsure if you're being too much".  His somber and passionate performance pairs perfectly with the songs intention. This kind of performance is very skilfully, guiding the viewer to the mood, tone and message within the song. This is a common theme amongst Justin's later music, which is an aspect of his discography I LOVE!

    I agree that Justin has a great voice. Even at a young age he was able to convey such emotion and that has carried into his music today. Justin was definitely a performer when he first started. Almost all of his big hits early on were with large artists like Ludacris, Sean Kingston, Usher, to name a few. That really pushed him into the spotlight and gave him such success. While now he is a writer on all of his songs in his latest album "Justice" there are still a bunch of co-writers as well. I hope he continues putting out good and emotional music even if he has become slightly less mainstream.

Musical Trip to Japan!

For this musical trip, I chose to explore the beautiful country of Japan.
