Musical Trip to Japan!

Image
For this musical trip, I chose to explore the beautiful country of Japan. This was an incredibly easy choice because Japan has been on the top of my bucket list visits since forever.                                     The Last Rose of Summer - Tokiko Kimura- 2020- Japan To   https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=P6YV76CnsKM   Upon first listening to this clip of  Tokiko Kimura performing, the first word that came to mind was  unique. With more research, I have found that is a trait that nearly all Japanese music has in common. The overall organisation and composition is incredibly different from that of western music. As noted by Birtanica, " The structural intents of Japanese music are as varied as those of the West, but one of special interest is the  frequent application of a three-part division of a melody, a section of a piece, or an entire composition". Innovations and Evolutions

Image
In this blog, I will be analysing the innovations and evolutions surrounding the presentation and production of music videos.                                              P oint A: Madonna-  Vogue-  2019- New York City, New York   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuJQSAiODqI I chose this specific music video because from my recollection, it was the very first one I had ever watched. I have a vivid memory of watching this music video as a "throwback" segment on MTV. I had never seen anything like it, I remember being captivated. I was shocked by the use of different scenes and backgrounds. I was not familiar with Madonna upon watching this video, but simply, that did not matter. I was hooked, despite not having a connection with the artist. As explained by Purpose Studios,  "Music videos gave up-and-coming artists a defining visual aest...

Musical Analysis #2

Musical Analysis of Self Care by Mac Miller  Self Care- Mac Miller- 2018- U.S.A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn4mVQswfNg Tempo :  The tempo in  Self Care  is very high energy and is upbeat.  Impressively,  this attribute is mixed seamlessly with a  serious  subject matter.  At 142 BPM, this song  is jam-packed  with catchiness  as well as an undeniable desire to dance along. This is the primary reason  why  I adore this song and Mac's discography  as a whole .  With that, this song is enjoyable for people of all musical backgrounds. The tempo is not too complex . Which  allows a complimentary aspect of the lyrics and overall likeness of the song perfectly.  Timbre-  Throughout  Self Care,  the timbre can be characterized as rich and warm. These sounds are layered. Almost as if they are stacked up on top of each other, which creates the perception of a rich timbre. In add...
